It's the thought that counts

Boy tells me he has a present for me for Mother's Day, and drags me into his room.

"Look what I did for you!" he says, proudly.

"WOW!" I say, trying very, very, very hard to not to let my eyes drift down...

Or to the right...

... and trying very, very, very hard not to wonder exactly WHO is organizing the rest of his book shelf.

******************************************************

The folks over at humor-blogs may have noticed my family's present choices seem to indicate they are under the impression I am a psycho like things clean. I'm just happy we're done celebrating a holiday that seems to require so much help from its intended honoree...

Oh that is too funny. I'm new here, so I don't know how old Boy is. 5 and under, it's cute and at least he tried. Older than that...oh well!
Happy Mother's Day!

That looks about like what my girls did for me, but only after we locked them in their room and threatened loss of certain activities if they didn't clean up their room already.

Good for you for looking at the "glass half full" part of that picture. Too cute!

He would fit right in with my kids. That's how they clean, and how proud they are of themselves.

Amen to the "requires so much help from the honoree."
My oldest daughter (age 17) took me out to lunch, which was nice. However, since any money she has right now came from me (she's looking for a job), well, I'm wondering who exactly took who to lunch. Same with the Bath and Body Works. Then my middle daughter made dinner, which was nice, but God it was like pulling teeth to get her to clean up the kitchen, because I sure as hell wasn't going to do it. Count me as another one glad that Mothers' Day is OVER.

He's a reader obviously--I'd focus on that!

If you can just keep that top shelf just so, then he should be able to finish the rest by Mother's Day 2017.

And we wonder where Man learned to say, "I made the bed for you today."

I think maybe boys (of all ages) just are hard-wired in certain ways... Of course, I have no boy children so I might just be telling lies. (I have a new boy PUPPY, though.)

Just keep chanting:

"It's the thought that counts, it's the thought that counts..."

If you say it enough you'll start to believe it. or so they say.

I've learned over the years that if you keep your expectations low, I mean really low, you just might enjoy the day. Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother Day! Kind of like when they "make" you breakfast and then you have to clean up the dishes...

I did this to my mom once. Yeah, she had to clean it too. Good luck.

All I could think was, 'gee kids get their own ipods these days!' In my day, I had to listen to records. On my parents stereo. In the loungeroom.

How things have changed.

And like I said earlier...you've definitely earned the right to that Paris trip. I hope you have a fabulous time!

Ha - mothers day sorta sucks, as does my enthusiasm for cleaning up after others. Sigh

Next mothers day I want a maid, a cleaner, a chef and a kitchenhand - and someone with OCD to clean my house!

But at least he will grow up to be a literate slob. He and the CH will be able to have pithy conversations in their den.

Honestly there are several great things about this--1) He obviously loves to read which is "wicked awsome" as you say. 2) Books are sooooo much easier to make look clean--have you ever tried stacking a pile of random crap? I'd personally clean up my kid's mess of books any day of the week if it would keep me from having to touch another fingernail sized LEGO ever again.
Happy Mother's Day--I'm mad about you!!
