It's no NYC....

"So, what do you want to do with your day off Friday, honey?" (Because yes, heaven forbid I go a whole week without a child taking a vacation day.)

"I want to take you to the supermarket and show you where they keep the good cereal," Boy answers.

(Because apparently THAT was the problem, my not knowing where they kept the sugary stuff.)

The supermarket, though. He dreams big, that one.

Still, there is no way I'm going to into a grocery store two days before Easter, honey. Maybe that can be our April vacation plan. Take it slow, really enjoy the place. An-aisle-a-day kind of thing... Good times, good times.

The folks over at humor-blogs don't make their kids eat Kashi for breakfast.

I have to BEG my kids to go to the grocery store with me.

They're teenagers now. They're handy. They reach the high stuff and lift the heavy bags.

I LOVE having help at the grocery store.

Oh crap. We usually go on Fridays--if I don't have a panic attack at the very thought of a 3-hour round-trip with all three kids by myself, that is--and I forgot that lots of people get Good Friday off and it's probably going to be more crowded than usual. And you know what really annoys me? When people who are usually at work during the day go to the market during the day and then get all annoyed because there are KIDS in the market. What do they expect?? I don't bring my small children to the market at night, do I? They're on MY turf and they ought to be polite or else stay home.

Sorry. Just finished a slight rant on my own blog and apparently I'm still in ranting mode.

I hadn't even thought about the zoo at the grocery store... and I totally do NOT have my Easter ducks/chicks in a row!

hey, be grateful you've got a man in the house who WANTS to go grocery shopping. Some women dream of that!

Yesterday that emotional vampire (aka my son) wore me down and we went to the grocery store to buy Cinnamon Toast Crack Crunch cereal. He never tasted it but he was sure that it was good and he wanted to get the extra huge box. I said "no, small box", being the Voice of Reason. He said "ok, but then we'll get three small boxes." We got one. ANd he said that it was "just ok". He's no Life's Mikey, I tell you.

Luckily it was the above hair and not the uh, below part.

My boys had Lucky Charms for the first time on vacation and you would have thought they were tasting heaven for the first time.

And there's nothing wrong with taking a little vacation in the wine aisle.

Do I sense a little sarcasm from your son? Whether he means it or not, I don't blame you at all for not going to the store. It sucks up your whole afternoon.

OMG, has it been an entire year already since we discussed our mutual hate of the supermarket and how it gets exponentially worse around holiday time?! I'm shuddering as we speak!

I remember the days when my boys loved to go to the grocery store with me. Those were the days.
