You know you might be too knitting-obsessed something has gone very, very wrong when you have to put your life on hold to handwash your socks.
And you think that's completely normal.
Eh. Might as well wait till this one's ready, too. Noro Sock. Not as itchy as you'd think. (Hm. You just know they're gonna contact me about using that as a logo.)

The folks over at humor-blogs wear machine-washable socks. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

those are great--so much nicer looking than the ones you buy at target. I'm still working on fingerless gloves i started in september, but i'm determined to complete them.
You are a much better sock mom than me. If it can't go in the washer it doesn't live in my sock drawer. Thus explaining why daughter has a couple of really nice pair of felted socks.
They're all beautiful.
I don't think knitted socks will ever become a passion of mine. I have very sensite feet and can only manage the thinnest of socks with almost imperceptible seams.
I do the same thing, and I can always tell I've procrastinated too much when the girls start begging me to have their "Dobby Socks" back.
But...of course...the worst day spent washing handknit socks is better than the best day spent cleaning the kitchen, right?
Ohhh....please send me some socks. Just be sure they don't match. I have a reputation to uphold.
Suburban Correspondent said it best!
And I have a pile of handknit socks waiting for some attention....
Um, it is normal, isn't it?
Haven't you ever said to someone, 'sorry, I can't come to your party. I'm washing my socks.'
he he
Of course it's completely normal - it's the rest of the world who are weird ;)
Happy New Year (without resolutions, or laundry done) from one frazzled mother to another!
I love handwashing my handknitted socks. No really.
And on the Noro - silk garden or kureyon?? Am toying with the idea of buying some. Because, you know, I *need* more sock yarn!
I want to learn to knit socks. Can you teach me via email?
I'm with Bells and Rosered - I have no problem doing nothing but handwashing my socks - and is the Noro silk garden or kureyon - because (despite slight lapses at BMFA_ I need more sock yarn - because I don't have nearly enough............ (I like yours very much - feel free to introduce me to them individually, at any time!
I have some Noro kureyon socks and they soften somewhat but not really a lot. I still love them for their color and I wear them to work when I'm sure I'll be able to show them off because we all know how the handknits impress people....
yes that is mad!
Oh, see, that is just one more reason not to knit socks. Let me write that one down...
But handmade socks are so much more comfortable than the store bought ones. They are like slippers. It's totally worth putting your life on hold for them. (Does this mean I'm crazy?)
Well, um, I guess. But what do I know? The only thing I "hand wash" is, um, my hands. Don't judge me.
That's not normal? Great socks, by the way!
What? Doesn't everyone? I don't handwash ANYTHING else in the world but my hand-knit socks.
And DUDE, now that I live in a place that has a real winter, I totally understand why wool socks are the greatest things ever invented.
Not to out Kim or anything but I'm currently knitting the most gorgeous socks out of the most incredible sock yarn that she sent me...
Seems perfectly normal to me.
That's why I haven't knit ANY for me or my family.. b/c I WILL HAVE TO THEN WASH THEM! LOL...but then I bought all that sock yarn w/you at Rhinebeck. I'm just a walking contradiction!
I want to ask how you have time for that but I know. We make time for the things that are really important.
Socks are vital to civilisation. The Romans didn't have them, and did they last?
You knit those??? I'm impressed!
I can knit a scarf. If it's only a six inch scarf.
how did you post on FRIDAY and i just see it????????
i bet you finished over the weekend. at least i hope you are that fast. :)
Lovely. I am awestruck.
I've got a huge shopping bag, on top of my dryer. It's got all my handknit socks just waiting for me to wash them.
Why is it so difficult? Does it get easier when they gang up on you? Can't I just knit more and leave these to fend for themselves?
